Elizabeth Hurley - Lily Allen Break the Law? - The celebrities who are familiar with Twitter seems to be caught in the law if the indictment against the Office of Fair Trading is true. Allegedly, they have to advertise the product using Twitter without explaining their connection with the products they're advertising. According to the law in England, this works the same as fraud.
According to Contact Music, the government will immediately investigate several celebrities including Elizabeth Hurley and Lily Allen who allegedly have been advertising a product through Twitter. Actually the problem is not about to advertise this product but more because they seem to 'forget' to mention if they are paid for by the manufacturers of these products.
"That includes comments about the services and products in the blog and microblog such as Twitter," said Office of Fair Trading in an official statement. Elizabeth Hurley himself has become a spokesperson for Estee Lauder for 17 years and had 'caught' comment on Estee Lauder products through Twitter without mentioning that he is the spokesman of this company.
At the same time, Lily Allen also had a chance to do the same on the product of Grey Goose Vodka and PlayStation. The act is considered to be the same as fraud because it can mislead Twitter users who do not know if these celebrities had business ties with the products they're advertising via Twitter.
